RECOGNISE FRAUD

Taking advantage of the user’s good faith, some individuals and organisations of fraudsters try to get hold of the user’s access credentials and secret codes through:

sending fake e-mails containing links to fake websites (phishing)
spreading viruses (crimeware).

PRIVACY POLICY
Computer fraud of this kind, known as phishing, consists of the creation and use of e-mails or websites apparently linked to financial institutions, and is only successful if the fraudsters manage to get hold of the personal access credentials, as well as the dispositive credentials of home banking holders.

CRIMEWARE SCAM
The crimeware scam consists of contaminating the PCs of home banking holders with computer viruses. These types of viruses can retrieve personal information from computers and transmit it to the fraudster.

RULES TO DEFEND AGAINST COMPUTER FRAUD

Keep your access data (username and password) carefully, do not save them on your computer, keep your username and password separate, and periodically change your password according to the instructions provided by the Bank (use numbers and letters, upper and lower case, punctuation marks and avoid using your first and last name, date of birth or other easily identifiable data).
NEVER give your passwords to anyone. Please note that no employee of Credito Fondiario is authorised to ask for them, therefore Credito Fondiario shall never send any request in this sense, whether made in person or by phone, mail, e-mail or any other means.
Always access the online services by typing creditofondiario.eu, avoiding to click on any link in the e-mails and to follow up any request contained therein.
Make sure that the web page where you enter your personal data is secure, and be wary of pop-ups. To check that the web page is secure, check that the address is preceded by ‘https’ or that your browser has an icon showing that you are connected to a secure site, usually a closed padlock next to the internet address.
Pay the utmost attention to the presence of manipulated pages, i.e. pages with a different graphic appearance from those of the internet banking application, or with suspicious content (e.g. messages not in Italian).
Regularly check the statements of your accounts and deposits to ensure that the transactions reported are those actually carried out;
Activate any SMS security alerts made available.

PROTECT YOUR PC Here are some tips to help you protect your PC:

Protect your PC, from viruses and spyware, by installing and keeping up-to-date the appropriate protection software (antivirus, antispyware, antimalware, etc.) and carrying out periodic scans;
Keep your PC’s operating system and applications constantly updated by installing so-called patches. Only download official updates, available from the manufacturers’ websites;
Protect incoming and outgoing traffic from your PC by installing appropriate data flow filtering programmes, known as firewalls;
When surfing the Internet, do not allow remote activities to be carried out without your authorisation and only allow the installation from the web of programmes whose origin and reliability can be verified;
Infection often involves a sudden change in system settings or a deterioration in general performance (e.g. slowing down, opening unwanted windows, etc.). Such changes may be indicative of suspected infection.
